The Project:

In Khun Ream District, Siem Reap Province, many children living near brick factories face limited opportunities beyond their communities. Some begin helping their families earn an income from a young age, making it difficult to stay in school and access opportunities for the future.

Khiri Reach is supporting a Community Learning Centre that will provide up to 300 children each year with free after-school English and computer classes. Based at Kam Phrom government primary school, the programme will make use of existing classrooms after school hours.

While children in the district have access to government education, there are currently no extracurricular English or computer classes available. By developing these practical skills, the centre will help create pathways to further education, vocational training and future employment.

The project builds on Sunrise Cambodia’s existing work supporting young people previously employed in brick factories to return to education. Through the Community Learning Centre, the programme aims to reach more children earlier and provide them with skills and opportunities beyond the factory communities.
