The Project:

This project addresses the ongoing challenges faced by youth in Andong, a displaced community affected by poverty, limited opportunities, and exposure to social risks such as drugs and low school retention. Many young people lack access to structured activities, life skills training, and positive community engagement.

The project will implement two main initiatives: a youth football team and a self-help group. The football program will provide weekly training, promote physical health, teamwork, and discipline, and engage youth in competitive matches. The self-help group will offer bi-monthly sessions focused on leadership, critical thinking, life skills, and community engagement, with a focus on child protection and environmental awareness.

The project will benefit 30 to 40 young people aged 12 to 22 from Andong, while also positively influencing their families and the wider community.

The expected outcome is a more resilient and engaged youth population, with improved physical wellbeing, stronger social skills, reduced exposure to risky behavior, and the development of future community leaders who contribute to long-term regeneration.”
