EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES ACROSS ASIA
We are committed to helping people to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Look at our past and present projects to see the effort behind people empowerment.
According to the World Bank, more than 320 million people in Asia live in extreme poverty, which means hundreds of millions of people are living on less than $2.15 a day — the standard economic definition of poverty. Everything they need to survive – food, shelter, clothing, transportation – has to come from this small amount of money. At Khiri Reach, we fight for a region where people will be lifted out of poverty, in a way that also protects our planet.
After identifying a ‘target group’, we figure out together with local partners/team about their real needs and practical implementable solutions. We then create or support projects that improve people’s living conditions, help them find alternative livelihoods, encourage them to develop and learn different ways to reach self-sufficiency and provide the funds needed to build new opportunities in a responsible manner.
We do not believe in ‘handouts’ or false expectations for free support. We want to enable them with equal opportunities, resources and support that allow them to thrive.
Khiri Reach’s ‘Empower’ projects run across all our operating countries with a focus on women and children. During this process we also wish to encourage the people and communities we work with to take responsibility for the environment and elevate their local wisdom by incorporating better, more sustainable practices with an emphasis on long term viable outcomes that benefit all.
