Executive Summary:

In North Lombok, Indonesia Biru Foundation is helping children discover the ocean as a place to explore, learn, and protect. Many children in coastal communities grow up close to the sea but have limited opportunities to learn about marine conservation or develop swimming and water safety skills.

Through this project, 60 primary school students will take part in marine education, learning about coral reefs, marine biodiversity, ocean safety, and the importance of protecting their coastal environment. The programme combines classroom learning with practical experiences, including snorkeling and coral restoration, led by Indonesia Biru Foundation’s certified team and divers.

The project will support the installation of 12 coral spider structures, creating a new home for around 400 coral fragments, as well as providing 10 snorkel sets for students to safely explore the marine environment.

By connecting young people directly with the ocean and giving them the knowledge and skills to care for it, the project aims to inspire a new generation of confident ocean stewards while contributing to the restoration of North Lombok’s coral reefs.
