Lombok Earthquake

On August 5, 2018, Lombok, Indonesia was struck by a devastating earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale. These seismic events resulted in 563 confirmed deaths, over 1,000 injuries, and left more than 417,000 people displaced. These earthquakes were the most powerful recorded in Lombok’s history and raised concerns of a potential tsunami threat.

This disaster left the region in a state of crisis, with urgent humanitarian needs, including access to food, shelter, health services, clean water, sanitation, livelihood support, and protection, particularly for vulnerable groups. Immediate assistance was vital to save lives and prioritize the well-being of those most at risk.

Khiri Travel Indonesia, in collaboration with Khiri Reach and with contributions from travel agents, rapidly mobilized resources to aid the affected communities. They provided essential supplies such as food, toiletries, school materials, water filters, and stoves to support the affected populations.
